Youth in Physical Education and Sport

With the theme of “Youth in Physical Education and Sport”, ICPESS 2010 kicked off with a timely topic coinciding with the Inaugural Youth Olympics Games hosted by Singapore on August 14, 2010. Staging this key international conference in physical education brought prominence and high level attention to the National Institute of Education to celebrate its 60th anniversary of teacher training in Singapore. The conference attracted over 1000 local and foreign participants from more than 70 countries. Held from May 25-28, ICPE 2010 provided an opportunity for physical educators, scholars, researchers, administrators and sports scientists from the Asia Pacific Region and around the world to interact and share research findings in meeting the needs of PE and the teaching profession. A wide range of topics were discussed including Adapted PE, Sports Management, Dance Education and Movement Sciences, Exercise and Sports Psychology, Health-related Fitness in School PE, Leisure, Physical Activity and Wellness, Pedagogy of PE, Biomechanics, Problem-based Learning, Sports Nutrition and Exercise Physiology, Teaching Games for Understanding, and Motor Control.
